Czech language examination for applicants for permantent residence A1
Since Jan 1, 2009 foreigners must demonstrate a basic knowledge of the Czech language in order to obtain permanent residence permit in the Czech Republic. This requirement does not apply to citizens (or their immediate families) from the European Union.
The examination can be either charged or free of charge. It can be free of charge only if foreigner presents a voucher issued by the ministry of interior. The voucher can be issued based on foreigner’s application for permanent residence.
